Leaving Our Mark
"For I know the plans I have for you," says the LORD. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11
Last September Hurricane Ike came through Houston and left its mark on our home (i.e new breaker box, HVAC and coil) and also on our Worship Center at Second Baptist Church. Mandy and Watson went to San Antonio with her parents and I stayed behind to "protect" our home. I have to tell you, hiding under a mattress and listening to the train-like wind and thuds from breaking branches hitting our roof was an experience. That Sunday morning I got in the car and went to church. I was met by Kristy Moore who informed me that the worship center was like a lake and water was running down the walls from the steeple and the stain glass in the roof. Since then, we have had church in three locations (C Gym, E Gym, and Sanctuary) every Sunday morning. We can't wait to get back into the "new" Worship Center in a few weeks.
On July 4th weekend, the congregation was allowed to write statements on the concrete floor of the Worship Center. Although we were out of town that weekend, we snuck in and placed our mark a couple of Wednesday nights later.
